AI Assistant authorization issues/incorrect "out of volume" message

First, please try installing the latest ReSharper version. If this is not possible for you or if it does not help, then try the steps below.

For ReSharper 2024.1 and later versions:

  1. select (Extensions) | ReSharper | Navigate | Go to Action
  2. run the following command: /internal Reset JetBrains Account and JetBrains AI settings. Please note that it will restart the current Visual Studio instance.
  3. when Visual Studio is restarted, login back to JetBrains Account in (Extensions) | ReSharper | Help | License Information dialog;
  4. open “AI Assistant” and there will be a Login/Connect/Retry button that should work.

For ReSharper 2023.3 version:

  1. close the AI chat if it's open;
  2. go to the (Extensions) | ReSharper | Manage Options;
  3. right-click on "This computer" layer and invoke "Reset" in the context menu;
  4. in "Reset" layer dialog, enable only "Environment/JetBrainsAIOptions" checkbox and click OK (the screenshot is below);
  5. logout from JetBrains Account in (Extensions) | ReSharper | Help | License Information dialog;
  6. uncheck all checkboxes except Use JB Account;
  7. restart Visual Studio;
  8. login back to JetBrains Account on the "License Information" dialog;
  9. open "AI Assistant" and there will be a Login/Connect/Retry button that should work.

For further investigation:

If these steps don't help, please collect and share logs with our support team for a more detailed analysis:

  1. select (Extensions) | ReSharper | Navigate | Go to Action;
  2. type logger /all;
  3. select the AI trace scenario in the opened "Logger Configuration" window (if there is no such scenario, then enter JetBrains.ReSharper.AI in the "Custom namespace tracing" field);
  4. also select the Licensing trace scenario;
  5. reproduce the issue;
  6. provide the log file (its location is specified at the top of the Logger Configuration tool window);
  7. don't forget to disable trace scenarios.

You can send the log file via (Extensions) | ReSharper | Help | Report a bug or Submit a Feedback dialog or via the Contact support button in the right corner of this page.
