Remove old caches
Hi,
I am short on space on my C drive and I noticed that there are a lot of folders under C:\Users\bogc\AppData\Local\JetBrains:
DotCommonShellIRemoteTimelineEnvironmentZone
Installations
plugins
ReSharper
ReSharperPlatformVs14
ReSharperPlatformVs15
Shared
Transient
What folders are safe to remove?
Can I remove Installations, for instance? It takes up about 1.8GB and it contains the following folders:
dotCover11
dotMemory11
dotPeek11
dotTrace11
Packages
ReSharperPlatformVs15_46a41de9
(an update: I think this is where the software got installed, so I don't think it is safe to remove them).
Thanks

Hello!
Thank you for contacting us.
You are right, Installations folder contains all binaries, deleting this folder will remove ReSharper and other tools.
You can safely delete Transient folder as it's the one that stores ReSharper caches. You can configure this folder by ReSharper option - ReSharper | Options | Environment | General | Caches | Store solution caches in.
Thank you.
I'm running into a similar issue where I have one Session folder that is 124 GB in side. It is located under
Users/{User}/AppData/Local/JetBrains/Shared/vAny/Sessions/dt_201209_######
All folders under %localappdata%/JetBrains/Shared/vAny/Sessions/ contain dotTrace snapshots. You can safely remove them if you don't need these snapshots anymore - either from the Explorer or from the dotTrace Home.
I attempted to delete the file in both locations but it is saying I need administrator access to delete the files. I am an admin on my machine and am able to delete other files, so I'm not sure what is happening. Perhaps I will need to restart my computer and test again after doing a restart.
As always...restarting help resolved the issue and I could delete the file. Thanks for the help.
The guidance by Angelina Elycheva to delete the JetBrains folder backfired and I am getting errors saying I am missing DLLs.
Also, clearing the cache from the UI does NOT work.
JetBrains was using 5.7 GB of disk space for Resharper/dotCover/dotPeek, etc. Resharper Ultimate.
Here is an example of an error message I see:
Hello John Zabroski,
I've mentioned deleting only %localappdata%/JetBrains/Transient folder, not the whole JetBrains folder.
Please try repairing ReSharper installation.
Thank you.
For me, after transient the other big folder was dotPeek workspaces. I was able to clear that by opening dotPeek and just deleting the workspaces from there.
