Very Nasty Problem with Build 82
When I load one of my solutions, during the "Loading assemblies..." modal
solution parse dialog, I get an exception dialog:
Just-In-Time Debugging
An exception 'System.ExecutionEngineException' has occurred in
DefaultDomain.
It offers the choice of debuggers and when I select No, it kill VS.NET and
then brings up the same JIT Debugging dialog. I tried this on Windows XP
and Windows 2000 and it happens on each system with the same solution.
Here's a clue - I can open any solution that is not bound to source control.
The main solution that I work on is bound to VSS and I connect to it over
VPN using SourceOffSite as the source control provider.
I'll un-install v82 on my main system and leave it on my laptop in case you
need me to try anything.
Thanks,
Derek Price

I have the same problem (Windows XP SP1). I uninstalled Build 81 before
installing Build 82.

Derek,
could you please describe which assemblies are referenced in your solution.

I don't think the problem is connected with source control - it's rather in
the
assembly loading. If you could notice what assembly is loading when you get
this exception,
it would be great.

Here's a little more information for you. The
System.ExecutionEngineException occurred in jetbrains.resharper.util.dll.
I've attached a screenshot from a utility that analyzes an assembly for
all references. Is this okay or do you need more info?

Derek,
thanks for this information, we'll try to test how ReSharper works with the
assemblies you mentioned
ASAP. However, if you notice the name of the current assembly in the
progress indicator when you get this exception,
it will be of great help.

Could you please describe where can we find evaluation versions of National
Instruments components?

To download the National Instruments components called Measurement Studio
v7.0, go to:
http://www.ni.com/downloads/
Click on "Evaluation and Demonstration Softare". Scroll almost to the
bottom and select "Measurement Studio 7.0 Visual Studio .NET Evaluation
Software". It's about 110MB. You may have to create a free login.

I've narrowed down the problem to the National Instruments assemblies.
Create a blank project and add any NI reference and you'll get the
exception.

I get the exact same problem but without the NI assemblies. I get the exception as soon as R# starts loading with the following assemblies:
ADODB
aspNetMX
CDO
log4Net
System
System.Data
System.Drawing
System.Web
System.Web.Services
System.XML
I ran a quick test and found the problem to be aspNetMX. You can get this at http://www.aspnetmx.com/.
Derek,
we've fixed the problem in the next build. Many thanks for your help.

I just installed v83 and the solution loaded with no problems. Thanks for
the fast turnaround!
Now if you could only get the performance issues fixed I could re-enable
syntax highlighting for this solution! ;)
