Gutter location
Guys, it would be great if you add the option to re-position the gutter. I
don't very like the current gutter (rigth-align) position. It's crap the
overall editor UI. Because on the right I prefer to see only the scrollbar.
The gutter right after the scrollbar strain my eyes and reduce the overall
R#er impression. Even more I think the left-aligned position will be looks
more UI professional and eye pleasurable. This is the my PoV. Of course this
is not first-time thing but if this is not so hard please do not ignore this
request. I'm really surprised that this request didn't arrived earlier.
Best regards to great team,
Evgeny Bobrov.
P.S. I think the team that consists of so many Eugene's will not refuse to
the namesake for the last will :)

The outline gutter is intentially placed beside the scrollbar since
positions on it correspond to the positions of the scrollbar's thumb.

Basically, I think, that gutter information should follow the two rules:
1) on the left gutter it is convenient to have the things that relate to
the lines in the editor visible area (like breakpoints), because it is clear
at once what things relate to (that is the point behind the gutter stuff);
2) on the right gutter it is convenient to have things that relate to the
whole file text, like error markers and bookmarks, because the scrollbar is
near and it shows the relation of your current visible area to that
file-wide information, and it is very handy to have it that way (that is
the case with the ReSharper gutter;).

1) I didn't suppose to override the text editor left gutter. But add the
Re#per one.
2) I think it's not so convenient for many including me. When I see the
error bookmark I can easily turn on line numbering and scroll to error
location. In this case it would be more clear when I'll see the error
bookmark beside the error line number. So it would be great (in any cases)
if the error hint will show the error line number (and even column number).
Or maybe the error line number in line numbering gutter will be red or smth.

I think it will be the same on left pos too ... or maybe the "right after
scrollbar" position helps you to track it scroll pos?

personaly, I don't see it's added value, but you can submit it to the tracker, so people can vote for it..

Ok, it was just my general IMO on what the gutter is used for. ReSharper
gutter is supposed to give you the idea of total errors in the file and
simplify navigation to errors (simply click on the error mark or position
the scrollthumb close to the mark).
However, I do not undestand the way you describe the use of the gutter at
all. What you suggest about the errors is duplicating information visible in
the editor (the errors are already highlighted in visible editor area) on
the gutter. If the gutter duplicates that information I do not see any sence
in displaying the gutter at all.

This is what I've try to say. Maybe instead you can add the option to turn
off the gutter?
