License Server - Couldn't set the SMTP Server Name
I liked to set the name of our company SMTP Server. But I get the error message: "SMTP server name is invalid". I think it's because the License Server don't like my underscore in it's servername. Is this correct? An underscore should be of course a valid character, right?

Although Windows allows underscores in computer names, mainly for backwards compatibility, it's not officially supported. RFC952 from October 1985 states:
RFC1123 (October 1989) changed the definition to allow host names to start with a digit, but did not remove the restriction on underscores.
Google has plenty of other results if you still need convincing.
Thank you for your reply. I didn't notice this fact.
But that does not help me. In our company we have thousands of hostnames in our DNS and a lot of them are with underscores. This is maybe the consequence of a not very strict naming policy. It's not an option to change the name of all. And i'm also not responsible for DNS.
So, I now understand why the input Valdierung prevents the input of underscores. But must the Validation be that strict? In a real world scenario there are a lot of hostnames with underscores (Not only in our case).
Hello
I've passed your question to License Server developers and they should contact you soon. Thank you!
