Performance
I was just wondering how the performance testing/fixes were coming. I
really enjoy all of Resharper's features, but I miss syntax highlighting and
the other advanced features (disabled so I can use Resharper) .
Thanks!
Derek

Derek,
in fact, we have already included several changes that should positively
affect performance in build 73.
Those fixes primarily concerns performance of typing. However, there is a
work to be done yet.
Meantime, is the problem still so critical for you in the latest build?
Thanks,
Dmitry

Hi Dmitry,
I cannot have syntax highlighting enabled at all with the current build
(or any previous build). It completely locks the IDE for many seconds at a
time for normal editing tasks.
Thanks,
Derek

Derek,
does this happen on files of any size?

No. It seems there's a magic number here. It may be a combination of
factors- # of lines, # of methods, etc. I have one solution that has four
projects. One of the files contains quite a few units tests. I used to be
able to have syntax highlighting enabled, but after too many lines or
methods the pauses were too much to take, so I disabled it.

Hi Dmitry,
This is my first post on this forum, so firstly many thanks for
getting Resharper up and running - C# coding is so much less
frustratring already. :)
In terms of performance - we definitely have a problem on our project.
One of our files is 30000 lines long (don't worry - its code generated!)
and as soon as we do anything to do with that file the IDE does lock up
for ~ 30 seconds or so. Turning off syntax highlighting cuts out the
majority of this time.
But apart from that everything's very impressive, especially considering
this is pre-1.0 and I dread to think how many hacks you must have
implemented to get what you need out of Visual Studio. :)
Cheers,
Mike
