syntax colours

Hi,

How can I tell what the syntax highlighting colors represent in R# 2.0 and are they user configurable?

Hello Andrew,

you can use the standard VS Fonts and Colors dialog (Tools|Options|Environment|Fonts
and Colors) for modifying
used by ReSharper display items (they are prefixed with 'ReSharper' there).

I have seen this work in the past - but it is not working for me presently - those "Resharper" prefixed options are not in the VS Options/ Fonts listing anymore.

I too have had this problem (ReSharper coloyrs not appearing in the list), but an uninstall and a fresh install 'normally' fixes this.

So Doug my question also applies to you - what build of ReShaper you're using?

It dosn't work properly. For examle syntax color for "ReSharper Local Variable Identifier" or "ReSharper Method Identifier" is always black.

Hello trapet,

have you installed the hotfix for VS 2005 packaged along with ReSharper?

Hi Dmitry,

I'm currently with version 238 for VS2005, but I have experienced this problem with various builds before this. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to reproducing this problem (as not all developers using the same version in my office have the same issue, although others do).

It just seems to be 'random'. Sometimes I install a new build (after uninstalling the previous one), and the ReSharper colour options do not appear, and I need to install again - and sometimes they do appear.

I've also used the 'Use Defaults' button in the 'Fonts and Colors' settings at various points, and this may have had an effect.

Sorry I don't have a definitive answer, but I will post if I manage to find out what causes it.

Thanks Dmitry,

I'll give 244 a go and report any related issues. I've holding onto build 238 for a little while now as later builds seemed a bit unstable.

Chris,

Apparently you are using beta?
You can download EAP builds of ReSharper here: http://www.jetbrains.net/confluence/display/ReSharper/Download

Hello chris,

sorry, it seems there was some confusion on my side - I didn't realize that
you're using
ReSharper 2.0 Beta. The latest EAP (Early Access Program) builds are available
at
http://www.jetbrains.net/confluence/display/ReSharper/Download . They are
quite stable enough,
so you may want to give them a try.

I have VS 2003.

Hello trapet,

this problem should go away after pressing OK in Tools|Options|Fonts and
Colors dialog or after restarting VS.

I know how this setup but this features doesn't work.

For example: ReSharper 'base' and 'this' keywords - default was BLUE.

When I change color for example on RED and even after restart VS dialog Colors dialog remembers RED color but in editor is still BLUE color.

Hi,

I am also experiencing this issue when using build 245 in VS2003 on windows XP. Is there some way I can force it to revert back to the resharper settings?

Thanks for any advice on this,
Jon

0

Hello Jonathan,

do you mean that ReSharper Fonts and Colors entries are missing in VS? Thanks.

Hi Dmitry,

The entries are there in the options dialogue, however they do not appear to be taking effect. I have tried with the beta relase as well as build 245, but have resorted to returning to 1.5.160.8 and they are working fine.

Cheers,
Jon

To fix up problem with colors in VS2003 you need to do the following
- Go Tools|Options|Fonts And Colors and press Reset fonts and colors to
default
- Close VS2004
- Run it once with /ReSharper.ReInit key

I have VS2003. I just upgraded from 1.5 to 2.0 and the syntax highlighting doesn't work at all. Everything is blue or black.

I tried resetting to the defaults and then starting VS with the /ReSharper.ReInit key switch, but nothing happened except that it complained that "key" wasn't a valid parameter.

Any ideas?

I'm using the production release, build 249, and I still see this problem. I've tried the various things in this thread, but to no avail. The Resharper.Xxx color options appear in the Fonts and Colors options, but don't look like they're being applied in the editor. I tried setting the base and this color to Maroon and it shows up in Blue as someone else tried.

Here are the things I tried:

Go to Fonts & Colors, click Use Defaults, OK. Nothing. Restart. Nothing

Go to Fonts & Colors, click Use Defaults. Exit VS. Uninstall Resharper. Delete App Data\JetBrains. Install Resharper. Start VS. Nothing.

I also have the VS hotfix that was included with the beta. That also means that I had the beta installed :) I uninstalled that before I installed build 249.

Hello Jason,

what version of VS you're using? In any case, you can also try running 'devenv
/setup'
having closed all instances of VS before.

Hello Nick
Please check that the Identifier highlighting is on ( go to
ReSharper > Options > Highlighting tab and check the "Color identifiers"
option). If this option is enabled, but your identifiers don't get painted
in a correct color, please let us know.

Just installed ReSharper 2.0 (version 2.0.249.3) and accompanying Visual Studio hotfix. ReSharper syntax colouring options appear in the VS Tools->Options->Fonts&Colours dialog, but they have no effect - actual colours in the editor window remain unchanged. Have tried Resharper uninstall/reinstall but no success.

Any suggestions appreciated. Full Visual Studio version info below:

OK, sorry - just read your post again (unfortunately after I'd posted my reply), and noted the ReSharper > Options > Highlighting bit. Having checked this I'm now seeing my code in glorious technicolor.

You might be wise to emphasise the location of this particular option a little more aggressively. I suspect there will be a number of baffled developers scurrying around the VS options sadly unaware that the solution to their problem lies along an entirely different menu path. Or then again it may just be me. :)

0

Dimitry, thanks for the prompt reply - all is well now - see additional reply I've just posted.
