ReSharper 2022.2 won't install in VS 2022
Hello. ReSharper 2022.1.2 works fine locally in VS 17.2.6. I just tried to update to ReSharper 2022.2 and received the following error:
I've saved the installation log as well : Upload id: 2022_08_02_EzHRBcc2AUyrghQKmNSnnz (file: InstallLog_2022-08-02T11-47-37.txt)
Rolling back to 2022.1.2 works.
Do you have any advice?
Regards,
Chris Powell

I am also unable to update or install ReSharper C++ 2022.2 despite several repeated attempts. Something may be fundamentally wrong with this latest ReSharper release.
Same here, Repair didn't help.
From VisualStudio AcitivityLog.xml:
Similar issue for me when doing an update to the latest version today.
I see the following in logs:

I opened an issue and was provided suggestion to install as Admin and that did succeed.
Stopping Toolbox, then restarting it as Admin worked for me as well.
Hello everyone,
Could you please check access rights for "%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA\MachineKeys" directory and all files and sub-folders inside it. Your Windows account (and sometimes "Users" account if exists) should have Full access to them
Please let us know how it goes after changing permissions.
Thank you.
Thank you, Angelina. I'll keep that in mind for future. Here is link to my install issue that is all set now in case helpful.
Unable to Install or Update ReSharper 2022.2 : RSCPP-33150 (jetbrains.com)
In my case, the installer was failing during a .NET assembly build step. I'm not surprised that such an operation would need Admin privileges. I also seem to recall that ReSharper install would prompt for Admin privs as needed but it did not for this install. So, my best guess is that installer simply needs to automatically prompt for Admin privs (at least for my issue).
Same problem. I'm unable to update or repair resharper c++ on Visual Studio 2017, 2019 and 2022
The problem could be fixed by downloading the web installer and run it as admin. If the installer must run with admin privillegs, it should ask for it!
Our solution was to download the previous version (2022.1) from here: https://www.jetbrains.com/shop/download/RS0/2022100
It looks like there is an issue with the 2022.2 build.
Can try installing as Admin. (That was suggested to me by RSCPP staff, and it resolved the problem. See my previous post in this thread.)
Hello everyone,
Sorry for all the trouble. We are working on the fix of the installation issue.
Meanwhile, please try suggestions from the following help article - https://resharper-support.jetbrains.com/hc/en-us/articles/207243165.
Yes, running the installer in the administrator mode allows you to install in the "recovery" mode after the update fails
Same issue symptoms here - failure to install 2022.2. The end of the log file has this, which may also be of help:

This looks different from what other posted, but may be the same issue. Running repair as Administrator worked.
Have the same issue as reported in VS 2022 and VS2022 Preview. Restarting the JetBrains Toolbox in admin and reinstalling ReSharper Tools solved it for me.
If you get this error in the log while installing the latest version:
"Cannot autodetect the structured storage format by its header . No known format matches this signature. "
You need to install as administrator for it to work. That worked for me.
Got it -- not yet resolved, but resolved by running in admin; expected UAC prompts, but got none.
Hello everyone,
Please try the following build - https://download.jetbrains.com/resharper/privatebuilds/JetBrains.dotUltimate.2022.2.1.Checked.exe and let us know how the installation goes with it.
Thank you.
Same issue here. It's amazing that such smart guys as ReSharper botched the installation and product testing after a decade of experience and millions of installs. Oh well. Lesson to self. Do NOT install fresh Resharper updates when they come out. Wait a few weeks instead.
The link from Angelina Elycheva above this post worked properly. Thank you Angelina!

Worked for me after I reinstalled it as an admin
Hello Chuck Han
Please try the latest ReSharper 2022.2.1 as it contains the fix of the issue.
Thank you.
Yes, I installed ReSharper version 2022.2.1, everything works. Thank you Angelina Elycheva
