Unterminated string errors with AI Assistant

Since updating to 2026.2.0.2, I am constantly getting errors like this one almost any time I ask AI Assistant to refactor or explain longer methods (of a few dozen lines). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it made no difference. It will get most of the way done and then generate an error. It works fine with smaller methods. This happens with both C# and C/C++ code.

Unterminated string. Expected
delimiter: ". Path 'content', line 1,
position 53.

Hi Brian,

The described behavior is similar to a bug already recorded in our bug tracker RSRP-501991 AI-chat answers with code blocks don't display with "Unterminated string. Expected delimiter: " error.
I have elevated the priority of this issue because the problem previously occurred intermittently, and its frequency has increased.

Yes, that is exactly what I am seeing. With longer methods, I see it very consistently.

Thank you. I left a comment a few days ago, so apparently I am automatically subscribed already.

The linked bug report is marked as Fixed now, presumably in the release that just came out. But it is not fixed, as I noted in a comment on that ticket.
