Very very poor performance

I am constantly freezing, Visual studio goes to a snails pace. Resharper throwing tons of exceptions. I have submitted many performance reports. This is disgusting. I am paying for a product i can barely use. Nothing is fast. I like the features of Resharper and the pricing, compared to another c++ helper tool for Unreal Engine. But the other tool is so much more stable.

My computer is no slouch. This should not be happening.

As you can see, constant performance issues, it is really unusable!

Hello,

System specs are irrelevant here since the issue is memory pressure in a 32-bit Visual Studio process. For some reason the UE solution from the git repository requires much more resources than the version installed via the Epic Games Launcher. We'll try to investigate this before 2020.1, follow https://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/RSCPP-29059 for updates. There are several options for now:

1) Use a version of UE from the Launcher.

2) Disable indexing of engine sources in ReSharper | Options | Code Editing | C++ | Unreal Engine. Your game will still be indexed.

3) Try using Rider C++. It's a 64-bit IDE and also runs ReSharper C++ in a separate process. This will be our preferred solution for working with UE. Public preview will be open soon, if you want to get a private build please write to Anastasia.Kazakova at jetbrains.com.

Thanks!

(not working from jetbrains)

You are using a EAP (early access)  version of ReSharper. (as seen from the screenshot, Resharper Ultimate 2020.1 EAP 1.)

It is a lot slower (by a huge factor ) than a proper release version of ReSharper, and  will generate lot of exceptions for debugging reasons.

Switch to an official release version.

I had to revert back to this version cause the latest release crashes even more.

Maximilien,

Unfortunately 2019.3 won't work with UE 4.25 because of an issue with the structure of the generated project. It is fixed in 2020.1 EAP, and everything works with the version of the engine from Epic Launcher. There are issues with using UE from the git repository, we'll try to do something about them.

Also while it's true that EAP builds are slower than release builds, the margin should not be very big.

Hi, we use resharper c++ for different project than Unreal Engine, but we have also performance problem, Rider can open MS sln files, is the same for Rider c++? If so, can i also get access to beta, or when you release public preview?

Hi,

Rider C++ for UE4 can open .sln files indeed, however it's not focused on general C++ development at the moment. There are a whole bunch of issues and problems we are aware but our resources are mostly allocated to UE4 related things. But let's see how it goes for you as an exception. Pls drop me some details on your projects to Anastasia.Kazakova at jetbrains.com
