Option has no discernible effect ("Use continuous line indent inside parenthesis")

I am confused about this option:  "Use continuous line indent inside parenthesis".  

Changing it appears to have no effect upon the code I write.  In the Resharper Options dialog, even the example code that they show does not change in the slightest when I check or uncheck it.  I've tried disabling the "Use indent style and size from Visual Studio" options (in case that was somehow "overriding" Resharper) but still this checkbox has no effect.

Is there some other setting that would be overriding this?

(It's not so much that I actually need to change it, but rather that I am confused by why an option would be in the dialog when seems to do nothing.  Half of the way I learn about what I can do in Resharper is by going through the options and examining the effects of changing various settings)

I am using the Resharper 2018.3 release in Visual Studio 2017.
