Activating AI Assistant is needlessly complicated
We've just upgraded from ReSharper to dotUltimate. Everything installed correctly, but activating the AI Assistant in Visual Studio 2022 was not as easy as it should be.
I started Visual Studio, and immediately got a notification that “JetBrains licenses require your attention”. Opening the dialog, everything was licensed properly using my JB account except for AI Assistant.
I closed that dialog, and clicked the “Activate AI Assistant” link in the popup for the AI Assistant status bar button. That brought up the AI Assistant window, which told me it was not activated,
I clicked the “retry” button, and read and agreed to the terms of service that popped up. This then brought up the license dialog again, which still told me that AI Assistant was not licensed.
I closed that dialog again, and clicked on the “Retry” button again. This time, the AI Assistant activated, and the license dialog now shows “Subscription is active”.
All-in-all, not a great first impression.
