Sometimes, when editing a CS file belonging to a control or form, typing a
character is very slow (each keypress ~200-500ms on a 2,13ghz Pentium M
laptop w/2GB RAM). I noticed this in one form's code file first, then the
next day it happened in a code file belonging to a user control in the same
project (by code file I mean the .cs partial class, not the
]]>.designer.cs file). Other code windows belonging to
forms/control in the project didn't have this problem.
I didn't see a pattern in this behavior until today when I noticed the
numbers shown in the bottom right corner of VS 2005's status bar switched
between the code window's character position (Ln 480 Col 41 Ch 41) and the
control/form's coordinates (699,0 74x416) for every keypress. I switched
to the designer window (a user control), selected another control
(pushbutton) and switched back to the code window which removed the slowdown
in this case. The location/size numbers supplied are just an example, I
didn't pay attention to which control had the focus when I had the slowdown.
Just wanted to post this here in case this is a known problem, or the
information supplied above is sufficient to fix the problem. I haven't been
able to consistently reproduce this problem yet.
