Hello Robert,

Could you please elaborate on the problem? What reference is shown as ambigious?

I will try to bring it down to a reproducable case.

I can state that any item defined in the App_Code folder is shown as an
ambigious reference.

David,

I cannot reproduce the issue. Could you create a sample solution for us?

I am currently under a tight deadline, but I will try to get one for you in
the next few days. Note that it is still occurring in 927.

While I have not had the chance to get the sample completed, I have noticed
that, for me at least, the problem is only in VS2005. VS2008 on a converted
copy of the same solution does not show this problem.

Robert, we didn't manage to reproduce the problem neither in VS 2005 nor in
VS2008. Could you create a sample solution for us? We are approaching 4.0.1
release and it would be great to fix the issue beforehand.

Hi Sergey,

I think I found it: after manually deleting x:\yyy.Web\_ReSharper.yyy.web
and reopening the solution the problem vanished into thin air. ;)

Thanks for your efforts and keep up the excellent work!

I'm having the same problem...

- VS.NET 2005
- code in App_Code
- web site (not web app)

I've deleted all the various ReSharper folders and files associated with
this project, but the problem does not go away.

If I turn off Code Analysis, then there is no problem. The code compiles and
runs with no problems.

But when Code Analysis is on, then I get tons of errors shown. (But code
still compiles fine.)

When viewing a code file in the App_Code folder, there are no problems.

It is when viewing the code file of a web control elsewhere in the project
that the problems are seen.

In addition to the "Ambiguous Reference" error, the "using ..." line is
greyed out indicating that the namespace is not used in the file.

I was using build 925. I've now installed 930, and have the same problem.

We also have the same problems and are still using 917, the latest version where we doesn't have the wrong "ambiguous"-error-messages. Up from 918 we got the messages and the red bullet :(

We also have an Web-Site - Project with code in App_Code. We also have different subdirectories under App_Code where we put C# an VB classes
(that directories are registered in web.config).

The class that makes the trouble is without namespace, so i moved it into a namespace - and the messages are gone. But just after the next build, I got them back.

Hello,

I've deleted all the various ReSharper folders and files associated
with this project, but the problem does not go away.

Please note that, according to R# Options, per-project caches might reside
in %TEMP%.

Glen,

It would help us a lot to have a sample solution for investigation. Note,
there're known ambiguous reference issues when you have, say,
webpage1.aspx, webPage2.aspx with corresponding code-behind files and the
base classes have the same name. R# does not support this. But if you rename
one of the base classes, the error should go away.

Hello Serge,

In my case that is definitively not the case. R# is configured to use the solution directory, which is copletely clean of any _Reshaper-Files an directories.

Greetings, Alexander.

We have the same problem (in c# 4.0). Creating an example solution is difficult as it usually happens in bigger projects, mostly in connection with
a) UserControls
b) Telerik Controls
and especially
c) less usual inheritance structures (our partial Webform- and Webcontrol classes inherit from classes in App_Code or even another class library project)

Sometimes, references get lost after some time. Restarting VS usually helps.

I was not getting this error in C# with 4.0, but after installing 4.1 I am now getting the error.
It is happening on classes in the web project, whether they are in App_Code or not.
I changed the namespace on those classes and the problem went away for about a minute and then returned, which leads me to believe that ReSharper is building some kind of cache but is not correctly deciding whether to use the cache or the project.

0

Richard,

If you create a small sample solution for us, we'll be able to investigate
the problem ASAP. Otherwise there is only hope that we manage to reproduce
the problem.

Unfortunately, in order to be able to do my work I have had to roll back my installation to 4.0.

Hello!

The latest bulid from here solved my problems with ambiguous references in website containing solutions

I was having this issue. I installed build 4.1.935.2, it is now working correctly.

Thank you.

+1

Just checked out the source code version I had problems with and indeed it's
working now.

Great job - Thanks!
