Nightly Build 1725 EAP Install timing out

I have VS 2005, 2008, 2010 installed side by side on this box, and when I do the upgrade on the nightly build, removing old installs first, I get a timeout during installing vs2010 extensions.

Can ya'll reproduce this in the lab, or is anyone else experieincing it? I don't know if this is a MS concern or a JB concern.

Hello Cole,

The installer calls Visual Studio in background in order to properly register
ReSharper and sometimes VS can hang waiting for some user input. Next time
you'll see that it hangs installing Visual Studio 2010 extensions, open Task
Manager, find the devenv.exe process and terminate it. Let me know if this
helps. Thank you!

Hello,

I've modified the installer (already included into the latest nightly builds)
to show a message box in case Visual Studio times out setting up, and kill
the devenv.exe automatically. Is it the message box you've seen (instead
of the installer just spinning forever?).

If there're any problems running R# after that, try executing "devenv.exe
/Setup" manually. It could be that it just takes too much time to complete
on your machine. Another option is that it shows a message box (invisible
and infinitely awaiting for user reaction when called from the installer).

Yes, that is what I'm seeing. What I'm saying is, is there not a way to increase that timeout? Is that a Microsoft timeout setting, or one that your team has set? I wouldn't be surprised that it's my machine that's timing out. I also just wanted to make sure there was a post in the forums for the next bloke what comes along looking for this ...

But the install was fine, I have all my features still pretty much intact. (AFAICT)

Hello,

This is our time limit, and it's currently set to be three minutes.

So it seems it's still too short for your machine? VS2008-VS2010 are usually
fast enough in their devenv/setup ... I'd rather expect the timeout to occur
on VS2005...

Yeah, it's timing out, but it's not like it's a big deal, it's probably some amalgam of all manner of things being installed on this box. For what that's worth, it's probably just about time to reformat the box and start fresh...
