Go to Type should Open instead of Preview

Shouldn't the "Navigate > Go to Type..." shortcut open the file instead of using the preview window?

Is that not possible?

Just seems like if I'm going to a specific type, its not just to preview it, but to work with it or edit it, etc.

I've also been annoyed by this behavior.  I don't really mind what the default behavior is as long as there's an option to make it fully open the document to a promoted tab.

There is an option in Visual Studio for enabling / disabling the preview function. I can't rember at the moment (and my VS installation is at home) where, but it should be in the dialog for configuring the tab well behavior. Did you try to disable this?

I like the preview feature, I don't want to turn that off.  It makes sense to preview files from the Solution Explorer or when debugging or when using F12 / Go to Definition.

My opinion is that 'Navigate > Go to Type' should perform the same function as a 'File > Open' except I can type in a Type name.

Also, the 'Navigate > Go to File' should also work that way as well.

There is a keyboard shortcut to fully open the document, it is 'Ctrl + Alt + Home'.

Not very memerable but I've mapped it on my programmable keyboard.  For now this is what I'm doing, I would still like to see the resharper command skip the preview window and just open the document.

Hi all,

Here's a corresponding disqussion about this in YouTrack here: http://youtrack.jetbrains.com/issue/RSRP-292069.
You're welcome to post any thoughts about it there, too!

Thanks!
