Marker bar stops updating

The code pane marker bar on the right frequently stops updating and just shows pixels from a previously overlaid window. Not sure what circumstances lead to this, but it happens all the time.

I don't know if this is related (it seems to coincide with the marker problem), but VS doesn't always exit properly. The window closes, but devenv.exe is still running and has to be killed in Task Manager.

Hello Kevin,

could you please describe the issue in more details and provide a screenshot?
In particular, I don't understand what the phrase '...shows pixels from a
previously overlaid window'
means.

Thanks in advance.

OK, don't mind, I've figured it out.
We have a known issue that such a problem often happens after the user
locked the workstation. Isn't it your case?

No, it wasn't locked. I'm just going back and forth between editing and debugging and at some point the marker bar stops updating. Sometimes it happens after a few minutes, sometimes after an hour or more, but it happens in almost every session.

I've been paying closer attention, and there does seem to be a relationship between the marker bar problem and VS not shutting down on exit (window closes, but devenv stays in memory).

I too have had the same problem where the marker stops working. Often you see the partial remnants of a previous scrollbar where the marker should be. Also, Visual Studio slows down to a crawl after this happens, so I often have to shut down Visual Studio and restart it.

I'm not sure what causes it, but I don't think it is related to locking the computer as I've had it happen to me while editing a file or debugging. I often know it is going to happen because my processor will jump to 100%, my hard drive starts whirring, and then a minute or two later my machine comes back but with the broken marker bar and slow response time.

This started happening frequently (at least once or twice a day) after I installed 1.5. I see 1.5.1 is available, so I'll try to install that to see if it helps.
