I would love a way to scan an entire solution to find all redundant methods. I'm not sure if there is any app out there that already does this, but surely it would be a great addition to ReSharper?

Hello Simon,

I think it's a great idea for a plugin for ReSharper. Moreover, it's not
really difficult to implement right now.

Not exactly the same thing, but when doing an extract method refactoring
in Eclipse, if the code you're extracting is pretty close to identical
to other places within the same class, it will offer to replace those
parts with the same extract method refactoring. That'd be cool.

Fantastic! Having Googled this feature, there appears to be no other product that does this (though a few can find dead private methods which ReSharper already does of course). Any idea of timescales for this to be included in a release?

We plan to implement this functionality. Most likely in the version 3.5.

Don't suppose you could sneak into 3.0, Valentin? (If we asked you very nicely
;)

Hello sean,

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on point of view) feature list for
3.0 is closed, sealed and pinned. We are very tight on schedule for this
version. I think a very tiny feature have some chances to sneak into 3.0,
one that takes less then 10 minutes to implement in the evening, while waiting
for build server to compile your last commited changes. Something like open
To-do browser from the to-do item in code editor ;)

Sincerely,

Hehe - well, I'll swap it for being able to open the to-do item :)
