ReSharper 3.0 Menu

I have a computer running Windows Vista x64 that had ReSharper 3.0 beta installed. Tonight, I uninstalled ReSharper 3.0 beta then installed ReSharper 3.0 (the release version). Upon starting Visual Studio 2005, I noticed that many of the ReSharper menu items are grayed out and other menu items are not present at all. So far I know Options is not in the menu, and the items that are grayed out include Show Tips, Help, License Information, Product Page, Submit Feedback, and About JetBrains ReSharper (see attached picture).

Hello Lothan,

I'd recommend that you uninstall 3.0 and then re-install it from scratch.
This should fix the problem.

I uninstalled and reinstalled ReSharper 3.0, but most of the menus are still
gray. I deleted all the log files in the JetLogs folder after uninstalling
and I am attaching the log ReSharper created after the fresh install. The
one oddity I see is that about halfway down the log has a lot of exceptions:

3:58:20 PM.302: Thread:1: EXCEPTION: Value does not fall within the
expected range.
System.ArgumentException: Value does not fall within the expected range.

This is somewhat bizarre... I had uninstalled and reinstalled ReSharper and
still had grayed menu items. I opened some Visual Basic projects, no change.
Restarted Visual Studio 2005, no change. When I opened a C# project, the
menus suddenly initialized correctly.

Hello Lothan,

does the ReSharper menu after all these routines look like in your first
post (e.g. there are obviously wrong menu items like 'Class' there)?

Hello Lothan,

when ReSharper is seemingly inactive, please check the state of its checkbox
(and also of the 'Startup' checkbox)
in the Tools|Add-In Manager. Not so long ago we noticed a similar problem
- even
if the 'Startup' checkbox is checked, VS sometimes ignore it when opening
a VB-only solution on startup - i.e. it doesn't load any add-ins
(but other times it
loads them as expected). Unfortunately, we're currently not aware of any
workaround, except for enabling ReSharper manually in the Add-In manager.

What's odd is that ReSharper was loaded and some of the menu items were
available and working. After loading the first VB project, for example, it
appeared as if ReSharper was not loaded at all. I then noticed that the menu
items in the Code menu seemed to work and I was able to rename properties,
parameters, and variables. I just wasn't able to get to the license dialog,
the about dialog, or other things from the menu.

When I opened the first C# project, I didn't initially notice anything that
seemed any different except that the bar next to the editor scroll bar
suddenly had yellow and blue ticks. I then looked in the ReSharper menu and
everything seemed to be working normally--and continues to work normally
regardless of whether I'm working with a VB or C# project.

The one thing I still can't figure out is whether code analysis works with
VB projects. At one point I could have sworn I saw yellow warning ticks when
I opened a class file in a VB project, but that's the only time I remember
seeing it in a VB project. Now I'm wondering if I was dreaming or
halleucinating.

Hello Lothan,

There are some analysis available for VB.NET source files, e.g. some redundancy
analysis, like unused Import directives.
However, as we do not perform full analysis with errors and warnings, we
don't put status indicator like in C# error stripe - it would be meaningless
to show yellow marker when code is not compilable.

Sincerely,
Ilya Ryzhenkov
