missing usersetting.xml

I just installed the 30 day trial of R# 3.0.2 and all the R# functions in VS.NET 2005 are disabled.

I checked the installation notes and found a section titled "If you participated in ReSharper 3.0 EAP and find that ReSharper 3.0 release build doesn't automatically start your 30-days evaluation do the following"

I installed the general release version of R# not the EAP but thought this might help anyway. I found that I don't have a "C:\Documents and Settings\ ]]>\Application Data\JetBrains\ReSharper\v3.0" folder at all and no settings file.

I have already attempted to uninstall and reinstall R# to no change in behaviour.

Please let me know what I can do to resolve this issue. I am looking forward to evaluating R#.

No, I am not able to see ReSharper in the Tools|Add-In Manager. Did I miss something in the install?

Hello predman,

so do I understand correctly that on your machine ReSharper is listed in
Add/Remove Programs, its menu is present in Visual Studio (but disabled),
and it is listed in Help|About in VS but missing in the Add-In Manager?

Thanks.

Yes, that is correct.

R# is

  • listed in Add/Remove Programs,

  • present in Visual Studio (but disabled), and

  • listed in Help|About in Visual StudioVS.

R# is not listed in the Add-In Manager. When I checked Help|About in Visual Studio the text "[Not Loaded]" was displayed beside the ReSharper 3.0.2 item.

Hello predman,

we're currently looking into this problem which is apparently faced by several
users and is not fixed by re-installation of ReSharper. We'll post
here as soon as a solution is found.

Hello Dmitry,

I am experiencing the exact same problem Paul desribes, including missing the "..\Application Data\..." folder and re-install not helping.

Unfortunately I have paid 159 Euro for the product and I haven't been able to use it since I bought it on 31 august 2007. (ReSharper 3.0.2, Full Edition, Assembly version 3.0.517.8) I bought it without trying because of my good experiences with the previous version.

I am monitoring this thread but it remains silent since 28 august....

As you can imagine I regret buying your product since I cannot use it at all.

Can you tell me when this issue is fixed?

Thanks,

Rikkert

Hello rikkert,

this issue will be fixed as soon as we are able to repeat it. Unfortunately,
all our efforts to do that have failed - by no means (I mean various sequences
of installation / uninstallation different versions of ReSharper etc) we
been able to arrive to a situation when there is no ReSharper in
the Add-In Manager. As you see, we would be grateful for any additional information
related to this issue. For instance, have you tried to install ReSharper
on different machine?

Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for Windows Workflow Foundation -> Visual Studio 2005 Extensions for WPF WCF
-> Smart Client Software Factory - May 2007
then Visual Assist X then Resharper.
I've tried uninstall all of them and reinstall resharper, no lucky.
my system was windows 2003 sp2

i formated disk today, reinstall system and visual studio and sp1 , then install resharper first then other stuffs . this time it works fine.

Hello Wu,

do you mean that you also observed that ReShaprer was missing in the Tools|Add-In
Manager? Thanks.

I had the same symtoms...

I was told to reinstall VS2005 and it works now. But that is REALLY annoying... Especially with the SLOW installation of VS2005 and then i also have to apply SP1 which is even slower...

But it works again now... But i lost more then half a day installing :(
