Ambiguous Reference that is not correct or clearable

I am using Windows XP SP2, .NET Framework 2.0.50727 SP1, VS.NET 2005 with ReSharper 3.1 Full Edition build 3.1.584.3 on 2007-12-20T19:16:46.

I am using a tool from Dundas Charts. See attached pic of the ambiguous reference when I drop the Dundas Chart onto the web page. This affects the code behind in that with ReSharper-Options-Environment-IntelliSense set to ReSharper I get "no suggestions" when I do a "this.Chart1." See second attached image.

If I change the setting to Visual Studio, then + ]]> gives me the intellisense that I need.

All in all, I still get "Cannot resolve symbol Series" error on "this.Chart1.Series["Default"].Points.Clear" code for example. The website builds correctly.

Also, if I open a entirely new website project, I do not get this error in the simplest website project.

I have never received a solution for this. Now, I see the message at http://www.intellij.net/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=5219389& and that another has this problem. I am now using VS 2008. I am building a very large project and I still get this ReSharper 4.0.1 Ambiguous Reference error. It really makes coding complex code behind nearly impossible with all of the errors (should not be). I do use ]]> similar to the MS Reporting as http://www.intellij.net/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=5219389& suggested. I do not have the ability to remove it though as it is used everywhere in my website project.

Ambiguous reference:
Dundas.Charting.WebControl.Chart
Dundas.Charting.WebControl.Chart
match

I'm getting the same problem. I will get the ambiguous reference warnings, even though there is no conflict. (attached screenshot) If I try to try on the first option in the dropdown when i ctrl-click the object, nothing happens, if i click the second option, i go to the correct object.

This is happening on Win2003 R2 SP2, in VS 2005 with Resharper 4.0.1.

No compilation problems, but the invalid references are making me unable to use resharper effectively.

I am also having this problem. In addition I'm getting "Cannot Resolve Symbol" errors being flagged yet the project builds and runs just fine. Also, I can right-click on any of the flase errors and select "Go to declaration" and it takes me right there. All of these false errors seem to be items that are in folders in the App_Code folder in my project. None of these items have a declared namespace.

The problem experienced by Bill Parrots seems to be similar to what I am experiencing, see here:

I too get this problem. I'm also using Dundas, and I've created a number of derived controls (e..g., "public class PieChart: Chart") and ReSharper identifies every reference to a custom control as ambiguous, whether they derive from Chart or not. As an example of a custom control that does not derive from Chart, I have a control that I derive from the standard ASP.NET Table class. ReSharper flags its usage as ambiguous, too.

Man, is this ever an annoying bug. I've just pushed through the purchase request for ReSharper at my company and the funds will be coming through to make the purchase, but this bug really gives me pause.

Any solution to this problem yet?

Once this is encountered on any of my computers using any version of Reshaper released in the last 3 years and works 100% of the time is deleting "%LOCALAPPDATA%\JetBrains" and reinstall ReSharper. This has been an issue for years and I'm surprised this is still a thing.
