Poor Dead Code regognition with resharper 5.1 and vb.net 2010

Some days ago I bought resharper 5.1 for visual basic (VS2010)  because it should show dead code - but it doesn't. Only unused import-statements are greyed out. Unused Variables, subs and functions not. I have to use the 'find usings' option on functions and subs to see if they are used, this is unpossible for a large project!

Wat can I do?

I did not find any information about that issue in the forum.

Can someone help please?

(This editor does not work properly (with Opera) - Enter creates new line above the actual line. So I can write only upside down and have to reorder paragraphs with copy and paste!)

Best regards

Alex

Right click on the grey circle in the bottom right hand side of the Visual
Studio window and select 'Analyze Errors in Solution' to turn solution-wide
analysis on. The circle should now turn green and unused code will be
highlighted.

Can't help with Opera, apart from saying try using Firefox or Chrome :)

Hello Alexander,

ReSharper 5.1 can only show redundant using directives and unreachable code
for VB.NET. Support for unused members and types in VB.NET will be available
in the next major ReSharper release. Let me know if there's information on
our web site that incorrectly states that ReSharper 5 should show unused
members and types for VB.NET. Thank you!

Thank you. I realized that this feature is not supported for VB code.

Hello Andrey,
thank you for the information. Resharper has so many features that I didn't realize the difference between C and VB analysis.

I searched the web for a program that finds dead code and almost every poster recommends Resharper because it greys out unused code. Unfortunately they suggest it as a general tool for .NET without telling that the vb version is restricted.

Nevertheless I like Resharper, it's a very useful coding tool. So I have to wait for the next major release.

Hello Alexander,

You can always consult with ReSharper feature map: http://www.jetbrains.com/resharper/documentation/feature_map.html
that describes in detail which features are available in each language. Thank
you!

You can use Shift+Enter to create a "correct" newline in RS's forum editor (doesn't help with identify/mask as other browsers unfortunately). Annoying nonetheless...
