R#5.1 Missing reference for asp:ListView. Why?

Hi!

For one .aspx file (among many containing ListViews) the asp:ListView tag is unresolved and Resharper proposes to reference System.Windows.Forms.ListView (!).

See attached screenshot.

ListView Error.JPG

Can anybody see why this is happening?

Hello Gjermund,

Could you please strip down your solution into a small sample one that would
demonstrate this problem and attach this solution here, so that we could
take a closer look at this problem? Thank you!

Hi!

I have stripped down the solution until the problem disappeared and can narrow the problem a bit.

It seems to have something to do with subfolder web.config file.

My .aspx resides in a subfolder that also contains a web.config file. If I delete the web.config file, the problem disappars. If I add the file again, the problem reappears.

Here is the content of the web.config file (but I don't think the content is the cause):

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<!--
    Note: As an alternative to hand editing this file you can use the
    web admin tool to configure settings for your application. Use
    the Website->Asp.Net Configuration option in Visual Studio.
    A full list of settings and comments can be found in
    machine.config.comments usually located in
    \Windows\Microsoft.Net\Framework\v2.x\Config
-->
<configuration>
<location path="Users.aspx">
  <system.web>
   <authorization>
    <allow roles="Administrator"/>
    <deny users="*"/>
   </authorization>
  </system.web>
</location>
<location path="MySettings.aspx">
  <system.web>
   <authorization>
    <allow roles="User"/>
    <deny users="*"/>
   </authorization>
  </system.web>
</location>
</configuration>

I'm unable to reproduce the problem in the stripped down solution and in a simple test solution.

Hello Gjermund,

I'm afraid I couldn't reproduce this behavior. Does this happen in a particular
file only or in any file that resides within that directory? Thank you!

Yes, the problem also appears if I add a new WebForm in the subfolder and add a asp:ListView declaration.

If I copy the whole subfolder to another location in the solution, the error appears there also.

If I copy the page files only to another location in the solution, the message is not reported in the copied page.

I have tried twice to strip the solution, but both times the problem is present until it suddenly disappears. During the process of stripping down the solution I copied of the whole solution several times. When backtracking through the copies to regain the problem, I have to go all the way back to the original solution before the problem reappears. (Very annoying! :-)

Hope this helps!

If not, I think I will ignore this error and not spend any more time on it. After all, the page is working.
