State of rename refactor with Svn/Perforce

How well does Resharper handle renaming these days with regard to Subversion and Perforce? I've seen old discussions suggesting that R# will break the source code history when it renames a file; is this still the case? Does the choice of svn client have any impact on this issue?

I'd like to understand this issue more before I try it and potentially break my large codebase.
