ReSharper Code Style Sharing + Subversion

ReSharper code style sharing is set to 'Shared across the team, per solution'
Now when changes in the "<SolutionName>.6.0.ReSharper" file have been commited and when updating the repository, ReSharper does not detect the changes.
We need to restart solution to get the changes applied.

Also the settings are stored only when the solution is closed, only then we can commit the changes of that file. In case the Visual Studio crashes then all changes are lost.
Not very nice. This also results in a lot of merging issues because the file doesn't get commited often.

Can we force the reload and storage of the ReScharper settings file?
Is that the way how I am supposed to work with these files?

Many thanks,
