Hello Richard,

You can easily suspend/resume ReSharper under Tools | Options | ReSharper
| General. Thank you!

Is there a way to disable or suspect ReSharper version 6?

I'm trying to automate this (Resharper 6) via Visual Studio 2010.

This works:

dte.ExecuteCommand("ReSharper_ToggleSuspended")

This doesn't however:
dte.ExecuteCommand("ReSharper_Suspend")

I don't want to toggle it, I want to stop it dead (without uninstalling it).

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Thanks.

I kept looking for this under ReShaper | Options | General and not Tools | Options | ReSharper.

Hi Richard,

Thanks for the quick response.

Problem is though I need to stop ReSharper from code.  I've created a new visual studio template that implements IWizard to allow me to take control of when the new project and solution are being created on the developer's machine.  My Visual Studio template works fine when I run it with ReSharper disabled, but hangs when I leave it enabled.  I think this is probably because ReSharper is trying to create some caching files on project creation in the background.  My code within IWizard is saving the project to disk, closing it and then re-opening it.

According to the documentation you should be able to run the following command:
dte.ExecuteCommand("ReSharper_Suspend").  This is the same as running "ReSharper_Suspend" directly from the Command Window.  Either way I run it I get a "Command "ReSharper_Suspend" is not available message..

I do not see this option in my version. Where else can I temporarily disable ReSharper. I've done the opposite by disabling all other addons and VS still "feels" slow. I want to disable ReSharper without uninstalling and see if I get my performance back.

Hello Bobby
If you don't have a Tools | Options | ReSharper | General options page in Visual Studio options (which by itself is weird and requires separate investigation), you can try assigning a shortcut to 'ReSharper_ToggleSuspended' command under Tools | Options | Environment | Keyboard and then use this shortcut to suspend/resume ReSharper. Let me know if this helps. Thank you!

@Bobby

Its in VISUAL STUDIO Options not Resharper options

I use it to check exactly what you want to check , turn it off and see what happens.

The dialog says "all CPU actitivity ceases and Memory is freed up", BUT open Task Manager first , check the IDE Memory usage , then suspend R# and lo and behold NO Change !!

Restart VS and it does clear the memory and performance improves noteably.

I have unfortiunatly reverted to uninstalling R# for the time being , and am using Visual Assist X , which may be short of the odd feature but doesn't kill the IDE on big projects. I was using a mix od Just Code and Visual Assist X but installing R# blocks Juts Code and its a mission to keep re installing . You must uninstall both and re install Just Code or at least repair the installation.

@ Andrey When will the full 6.1  be available and how will we know its an improved version ?

I sense quite a level of un happiness in the user group ?

Mike
