Performance with Large Solution

I am a new user to ReSharper and a 12 year veteran of Visal Studio. I recently added ReSharper 9.2 into VSTS 2010 Ultimate SP1 which I use for development of a large solution (650 projects). I have a desktop PC with an i7 processor, 16 GB RAM, and 500 GB HDD running Windows 7 Enterprise. I have been working with the ReSharper product for 6 weeks now and have really benefited from the productivity gains, but it has been at the expense of Visual Studio perfomance (general slowness, crashes, etc.). I would like to promote the product within my development group, but am weary to do so given the serious performance implications.

Does anybody have experience using ReSharper on a large Enterprise solution and do you have any performance tuning tips that can be shared?

I use R# since 2004 and a long time ago; between 2004 and 2008, R# was very slow and eated a lot of memory. After that period, R# was rapidely growing in speed and efficiency. But I recently installed the version 9.2 and I experience a huge downgrade of performance and much more bugs than betwen any other upgrade of versions in the last couple of years. I suppose you are not lucky.
