Resharper performance

Well, I didn't notice this because my computer is pretty fast (3Ghz P4/HT, 1Gb RAM, 2x80Gb stripe RAID, top ASUS MB) and speed was sufficient. However on the computer of my coworker (2Ghz Celeron, 512Mb RAM, 80GB HDD, simple MB), which is not so much slower, installing Resharper makes VS.NET unusable. It obviously slows things down in general, but often it hangs for up to 10 seconds (no special actions, just code editing), preventing VS from even repainting itself. We are trying to catch the sequence that leads to this pause, but to no success yet.

Is there anything being done to speed things up?

Hi Ilya,

During these "hangs" .NET collects garbage. Collecting it in 1 and
subsequent generations is a very long process. We are currently working on
reducing the garbage at thirst generation

Actually I had chance to work with ReSharper on a P3-800/256MB laptop and it
worked ok. Yes, it was slower than on my work machine, but I could live with
that performance.

I wouldn't say "unusable", but it I'm seeing the same symtoms, ie "hangs"
for 10+ seconds.

And my spec is OK: 1.8GHZ P4, 1GB RAM.

I do not know if this can help, but on my 1.7GHz Mobile Pentium 512MB
RAM some "hangs" occur on pretty big source files (i.e complex Windows
Forms). I'm used to disable the code highlighting in the "General"
section of the Reshaper Options form and everything goes fine. It also
seems that huge garbage activity is triggered by using this option.

We are working on dramatical reducing of garbage produced by error
highlighting.
