[233] Autopopup still very slow

Sorry to say this is not better in 233 :(

6 projects, 500,000 lines of code, build 233 == unusable.

Hello alastair,

please clarify:

autopup == false => 233 != unusable?

Auto-pop up is extremely slow, and quite unusable, CPU usage shoots up to 100%, even scrolling through the list (when it finally appears) is painfully slow.

It's slightly better then 232, but I keep having to go back to 224 which works just fine.

Is there something I can cleanup somewhere, am I the only person seeing this? I think it will not be noticeable with smaller solutions perhaps.

Hello alastair,

I also still have this problem: editing is way too slow when the parameter
info popup is showing. Disabling the auto-popup helps a great deal, but
I very often find myself pressing ctrl-p intuitively to see the differences
between several overloads, and then it all slows down again.

To give an indication of the lag: if I type:
new ArrayList(<ctrl-p)
and then type the same character 10 times as fast as I can, where I would
normally enter parameters to the constructor, it takes the editor 3 seconds
to catch up after I'm done, resulting in
new ArrayList(dddddddddd)

Greetings,

Guy

Just some feedback: I'm also finding the responsiveness in VS2005 is
sluggish, with respect to:

  • parameter pop-up window is too slow (I have set the R# option to

display only one signature at a time);

  • when editing a web.config file the background analysis of the file

whilst typing means I have to wait two or three seconds between key
strokes.

My solution has five projects, one web app + four class libraries,
several hundred thousand lines of code.

Hello,

Since we're making lists, I'd like to add the following:

  • In VS2003/R#233 editing is very slow for me when doing inline renaming

of a local variable, the editor has trouble keeping up with the typed characters
similar to when a popup is shown.

Greetings,

Guy
