Things to check if a nightly install is not quite functional after running
1) Automation Folders.
The Registry key at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\VisualStudio\9.0\AutomationOptions\LookInFolders
(similar for VS8) should contain only those R#-related folders that actually
contain the most recent installation. In the new R# setups, the VS version
has been excluded from the installdir path.
This issue will be addressed in forthcoming builds. Special measures have
been taken even in the early R# builds to enable the newer installers clean
them up eventually (see special markings in the value data).
For some obscure reasons, it's not always enough to run the Devenv/Setup
activity just once, as is done by the installer. Please run "devenv.com /Setup
/ResetSkipPkgs" for some VS version.
This issue will be addressed in forthcoming builds. Package skippings will
be force-reset by the installer proper.
3) Publisher Policies.
It is not possible to have more than one R# installed for the same Major.Minor
version. It might so happen that there are policies from the newer build
preventing yours from running. The C:\Windows\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Policy.4.0*JetBrains
entries could be deleted to remove the effect.
This issue will be addressed in forthcoming builds. Publisher policies will
be dropped altogether.
