[Several Builds] R# not Working with serveral instances of VS, sometimes


I have currently installed Build 1208.6, but i noticed a strange
behavior since days.

What i have done ;)

  • Updated from Build 1206

  • Started VS 2008 SP1 (First Instance)

  • Restored my Color Settings (hopefully this will be fixed in VS10)

  • Loaded a Solution


R# Works in die First Instance

  • Started a seconded Instance of VS 2008 SP1

  • VS 2008 Displays: Initializing VS for first time use, please wait

  • Loaded another Solution

  • Checked Show All Settigns in VS Menu->Tools->Options


R# Works in the Second Instance
R# Works in the First Instance

  • Closing the Second Instance of VS

  • Starting again a Second Instance auf VS 2008 SP1

  • Loaded another Solution again


R# dont works in den second Instance. No Keyboard Shortcuts and mostly
Menu-Items of R# are grayed out
R# Works in the First Instance

  • Writing this Text ;)

  • Starting again a Second Instance auf VS 2008 SP1

  • Loaded another Solution again

Could it be so that you were holding the Shift key down when starting the
second instance? Does it help to go Tools -> AddIns and enable the R# adding
manually in such as case?

It could (Windows 7 Taskbar). But this is not the Problem. Also if i
started it from the Start-Menü without the Keyboard the Problem is
there. Sometimes the Complete R# Menu dissappears (after Loading VS).
