RS 6 not loading on .Net startup

Has anyone else experienced this? That is, you don't get the gutters loading with RS' suggestions, etc. The project I loaded just now has the gutters populated but for the last day or so it's hit and miss as to whether they show up or not. Version 5 was never a problem so maybe that's the price I'm paying for being an early adopter?;)

I tried suspending and resuming RS using the menu Tools | Options | Resharper and clicking the suspend button on and off but it oftens makes no difference.

Hello,

Does this depend on the project you're working on or on particular files?
Could you please attach a screenshot of the Visual Studio window demonstrating
this problem? Thank you!

Andrey, my apologies for not posting the screenshot earlier. I've attached one with some notes to help you. I've inherited the machine I'm using at work so VS was already installed as well as the DevExpress components used in the projects. Unfortunately, I can't see any easy way to disable DevExpress' refactoring tool so I always manually unload it when I open my solution file. I can't say for sure that DevExpress is casuing problems but once I unload it and then suspend and resume RS I lose the gutters more often than not. When I had version 5 installed, RS and DevExpress' refactoring tool used to share VS without a problem. It's only since I became an early adopter of version 6 that I started having problems. If there's anything else you want to know or I can send you let me know. I will try and open some smaller solutions to see if size matters!;)

Hello Oddstix,

Could you please run Visual Studio (devenv.exe) with /ReSharper.LogFile "C:\log.txt"
/ReSharper.LogLevel Verbose, make sure the error stripe is missing and then
attach the resulting log file here? Thank you!

Andrey,

I completely uninstalled DevExpress and reinstalled it but this time without their IDE refactoring utilities. Since then, the missing gutter is now reappearing 90% of the time. It's about 99% on smaller projects. I have one uber-project which contains a lot of classes and controls. I tried opening it and the success rate of getting the gutters and code suggestions is better but still problematical. I've attached the log file you requested and this was based on the missing gutters. If you want me to supply a log file where the gutters and code suggestions appear I'll be happy to try that for you tomorrow.

So, DevExpress' tools were hurting RS more often than not but RS is also self-harming as well. Hopefully, the log file will give you information.

Peter.
