[2147]Some VB Issues in the current build

there are several issues in the current build which i will concentrate here:

  • Hover tooltips in code editor are not shown. When the mouse hovers over function callls or variable usages no tooltips are shown. Only when i place the cursor directly behind the variable name or closing brace of the function call the tooltip is shown. This is not the cause when i disable R#.
  • Parameter information is not shown after typing open brace for a function call. Also the corresponding menu item in the R# menu is disabled.
  • Bulb menu broken for following issue: I have coded "Cursor.Current = Cursors.WaitCursor". R# warns me "Access of shared member, constant member, enum member or nested type through an instance; qualifiying expression will not be evaluated" (why the hell is R# reporting this?). When i open the bulb popup for this issue the is a menu entry named "Jetbrains.Intentions.Bulbs.BulbsMenuItem". When i close the popup an excption is thrown (see RSRP-261856).
  • I have defined a template which uses the macro "Default namespace for current file". Instead of inserting the root namespace as defined in the project options R# inserts the text "DefaultNamespace". If i choose the Macro "Default Namespace" the root namespace is inserted.

Klaus,

Thanks a lot for your feedback, here're some answers and questions:

1. Hover tooltips. Cannot reproduce any problem. Could you give us more details (what exactly is expected to happen, what VS is used etc)?
2. Parameter info is shown in my case. Could you make sure the corresponding option is switched on?
3. Current is a static member of a Cursor class while you're accessing it via Cursor property, which is legal though a code smell because the property is not evaluated in the case (this is exactly what's written in the tooltip). The youtrack issue is claimed to be fixed though.
4. I've filed an issue http://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issue/RSRP-263957

Hello Sergey,

i can reproduce the tooltip issue definetly also in build 2151. I have attached two screen recordings without (tooltip1.avi) and with (tooltip2.avi) R# enabled to show you the difference. Maybe the problem is VS 2008 specific.

Parameter info is shown in 2151.

Regards
Klaus

Hello Klaus,

It looks like the problem is VS2008 specific. I've added a bug-report with
highest priority: http://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issue/RSRP-264257.
