BUG: Reverting to 2.5.2 after uninstalling 3.0 beta
While I was tinkering this weekend, I uninstalled 3.0 and reinstalled 2.5.2 on my machine. After doing so, the system refused to set the keybindings, no matter what I tried (including a full reset of the settings).. It kept saying it couldn't find a COM component.
After reinstalling 3.0, the keybindings worked, but it appears once you go to 3, you can't go back -- at least I couldn't figure it out.

Hello Chadwick,
could you please more precisely describe the error you got with 2.5.2? Was
it an exception that you've submitted? Thanks.

I will try to get you a screen shot later today, but it wasn't an R# type error, and it didn't give me an opportunity to send the exception to you. It was a medium length text dialog about trying to make a copy of my keyboard settings and trying again (which is what you used ot have to do in vs 2003?) but even trying to switch default settings from (Default) to Visual C# 2005 or something, then resetting shortcuts, it would give me the same error.
I'll try to get you a SS today.
It must have been an anomaly, I cannot reproduce the problem. It was originally 3.0.448 back to 2.5.380, but going from 3.0.457 back to 2.5.380 I didn't have the issue.
Thanks
I finally have been able to reproduce the problem (at least it happened to me again). This time it was all 3.0. I did a Reset All Settings in the Import / Export Settings dialog, didn't save my existing layout. I immediately (after it finished) went into resharper and tried to apply my IDEA keyboard scheme, at which point the attached error popped up (the same one I got last time I was working with 2.5.2)
It happens at about 30-35% on the reset keyboard shortcuts pop-up

It is reproduceable. I just did it again. If you exit the app after doing the reset all, and then apply the keyboard mappings, it works. it actually fails at 66%.
FYI
That post may have been unclear. You can reproduce the problem by following the steps I described (reset all settings, then before you exit the app, try to reapply the R# keyboard settings, it fails at 66% with the previously attached error). The work around for the problem is to exit the app after resetting your settings, then you will be able to reapply the keyboard mappings.
Hello Chadwick,
thanks a lot for your report!
I've repeated the problem and created a request for it:
http://www.jetbrains.net/jira/browse/RSRP-44041. Actually, I believe it's
most likely a VS bug
but it is nevertheless worth investigating.
