Resharper add-in has failed to start

I have just installed Windows 7 on a new HD, then Visual Studio 2008 with R# 4.51. When launching VS, I get a "Fatal Error" alert saying: "JetBrains Resharper add-in has failed to start. Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation", once when the splash appears, and again when the VS window appears.

In VS, I can see the Resharper menu, but everything is grayed out.

The only entries in VS logs that pertain to Resharper are these ones:

    <record>25</record>

    <type>Information</type>

Loading .NET AddIn: ReSharper

Calling OnConnection for Addin: ReSharper

Unloading AddIn and calling OnDisConnection: ReSharper

I don't know where I can find R# logs or how to diagnose this. I've scoured the net to no avail : the first sentence of the error message doesn't even appear on Google!

I've tried v4.5.1246, v4.5.1274, v4.5.1277, and v4.5.1283.

I have the x64 version of W7. VS 2008 is the standard edition.

Any ideas anyone?

i just can say that i didn't ran into any problems with the same configuration. Did you
install VS2008 SP1. Maybe there are problems if you don't have the service pack installed.

Klaus, would you mind telling me what r# version you're using, so I can try the same ?

I already tried that one and had the same symptoms as with the other. Thanks for the info, though.

OK, here's the explanation, in case anyone is interested: I've installed Windows 7 in double-boot with Vista, which already had a VS2008 + Resharper setup. The shortcut I used launched the wrong version. Yeah, silly me but everything else worked perfectly and there is no obvious way to detect which folder VS is launched from, at first glance. Had to attach a debugger to see an exception saying some file was missing on drive F... Wait, F, wtf???
