5.1.1727.12 conflicts with T4 Editor from Tangible, in VS2008

In Visual Studio 2008, with both the T4 Editor from Tangible, and ReSharper 5.1.1727.12 installed, when I try to open a .tt file, Visual Studio hangs. A coworker who has 5.0 says it works fine, and I know 4.5 works fine, because I had to revert to it.

Any chances of getting this fixed in the near future?

I have the same problem using Tangible T4 editor with ReSharper 5.1.1751.8 with Visual Studio 2010. VS just hangs indefinitely when opening any .tt file.

Hello,

First of all thank you for the feedback information. Please accept out
apologies for the bad experience you have had with our tools. Please try
installing latest release build of R# 5.1.1 from
http://www.jetbrains.com/resharper/download/index.html
Please let me know if this helps

Also, we have investigated this and it seems that T4 editor inside VS
2010 without R# inhibits VS 2010 environment. You have to wait some time
until VS opens .tt file.

Sorry I didn't get back to this sooner - work is an avalanche. I suppose I can say that the latest version kind of solves the problem, however it takes a looooooong time to open a .tt file. This does not happen with the older version of ReSharper, as I reported earlier.

So, I would not consider the situation resolved. However, at least it works now.

I removed the T4 editor from my laptop with 2GB ram, and VS2010 goes to "Not Responding" mode after the Start Page appears and R# begins to load. It eventually comes back. So, I suspended R#, and load time is still seriously slow, as if R# is still trying to do something. With 4+ GB on workstations, there are no problems for me, even with the T4 editor extension. As a general note, and for what it's worth, I had begun to notice a negative change in load time effect after 5.0 came out.

It almost feels like we're at the edge of what the system requirements should be for VS2010 and R#. The referenced laptop is a Dell Inspiron with an Intel T7400, 2 GB RAM, 240 GB 7200 RPM SATA II drive with over 50% free headroom, and running Windows 7 Ultimate. If you have any suggestions for services to turn off in this context, I can certainly create a "dev" profile to start up with if it will get me back to the old fast performance I used to experience with Win7, VS2008, and R# 4.5 on this same laptop.

Hi,

We have discovered that this problem relates to T4 editor. And I have
already mailed their team about this.

There is a new build from tangible engineeirng that fixes the problem. Please see the instructions in the visualstudiogallery.com for getting it

All I see at visualstudiogallery is a VS 2010 version that looks new, but it has warnings in the description indicating there's problems with ReSharper, and a VS 2008 version that doesn't look new. Can you please clarify? Thanks.

Hi Dan,

we do have new Builds for both VS2010 and VS2008 that address the issue of T4 files to open EXTREMELY slow (40+ Seconds) when Resharper is installed.

Please email support@tangible.de to get them or wait until end of week when we release both officially.

Thanks

Tim
