Why is Resharper so slow?

Hi

I am trying the trail version of Resharper 5.1 since I heard so many great things about resharper and how it boasts productivty but after I installed it my VS2010 Ultimate is so slow that my productivty is actually going down.

I mean I tried to debug something in my project(personal project not that big of a project) and now when I hit F11 while in debug mode it takes like a second to move to the next line. I also find switch tabs or doing anything just seems at least twice as slow when resharper is installed.

When I unistall reshaper it reverts to being fast. I would like to give resharper a try but if it is going to be this slow their is no point on using it.

How  can I speed it up?

Thanks

Hello xiao,

What's the exact version of ReSharper (from ReSharper | About dialog)? How
big are the files you have opened in the editor? Could you please also describe
your hardware configuration in detail? Thank you!

Hi

I reinstalled resharper and now it seems to be faster. I will continue to try it out and see if the speed degrades. I am not sure it might have been because I hit "soultion wide analyis" even though after I saw it was taking too long doing whatever it was doing I hit pause. So I am not sure even though it was in pause mode that might have still caused it to slow down. I could not find the cancel button so I could not verify if that was the problem or not.
