What does Code inspection/Generated Code/Generated file masks: actually do?

What it does not seem to do is prevent ReSharper from telling me about code formatting it doesn't like in my generated files.

I would like to see Solution-wide Analysis to NOT show me errors or warnings from *.generated.cs files, and this settings list looks like it should do that, but it doesn't.

1) How can I get the behavior I want.

2) If Code inspection/Generated Code/Generated file masks: isn't used for what I want, what is it used for?
