Problem while uninstalling, how do I manually uninstall Resharper?

Hello,

I tried to update resharper from version 76 to 77.
In the process, I forgot to uninstall v76 before trying to install v77. This caused an error upon installation.

I then tried to uninstall v76, but I am getting an error (the message is as helpful as "something went wrong, contact vendor").

Launching the uninstallation many times, I quickly saw something in the registrar.exe window:
"Can't create instance of VB NET, bailing out".
I am not sure of the last part of the sentence though, as it is displayed really briefly and english is not my native language.

I would like to know the procedure to uninstall resharper manually or a way to make the uninstall program work until the end (it seems to roll back what it has done after the error).

Thank you for your help, regards.

Could you please try to simply copy binaries of build 77 into the
directory where you have ReSharper installed and run

Registrar.exe /register

This is what the installer does during installation.

First, thank you for your quick reply.

However, I'm a bit confused, as you are telling me how to install the newest version of Resharper, whereas I want to uninstall it.

Isn't it registrar.exe /UNregister instead?

Maybe I have to install the latest version to be able to uninstall it. There again, I have a problem: I only have the msi file, I've looked the Resharper web site for another downloadable format, but I did not find.

Opening the .msi it as a zip file only shows files with GUID-like names.
I don't believe these are the binaries you are talking of.

Looking through the parameters of msiexec on msdn did not bring me any more information on how to extract the binaries from the msi file.

Did I miss something somewhere?

Try registrar.exe /uninstall - this is called during uninstallation.
Please take a look if it writes into the console any errors.

I retried uninstalling resharper after having repaired visual studio .net, and it worked (I suspect this cut off some links between them).

I'll install the newest version though and try uninstalling it (I like to know why something goes wrong =).

Thank you for your help, if I'm getting any error messages, I'll post them here.

Regards.

I could not reproduce the uninstallation problem, I can install/uninstall without any problem now.
