[218] Does ReSharper install EnvDTE?

I had some problems after installing Build 218 with JetBrains.ReSharper.VSIntegration.dll
and it's references to both EnvDTE 8.0.0 and 7.0.3300.

Does ReSharper install EnvDTE.dll? If so, build 217 seems to remove 7.0.3300
on uninstall and build 218 only installs 8.0.0, although both are needed
(I use VS.NET 2003).

Uwe

Hello Uwe,

we've just discovered this problem and are investigating it. ReSharper should
only use EnvDTE 8.0.0 and
it installs this assembly. However, for yet unknown reasons VSIntegration
assembly also references EnvDTE 7.0.*,
so if you haven't it, you'll likely get a FileNotFound exception. We'll fix
this issue ASAP.

By the way, ReSharper shouldn't remove EnvDTE on uninstallation. Are you
sure that it was ReSharper who removed EnvDTE?
Thanks.

Hallo Dmitry,

Yes, I'm pretty sure, because I had 7.0.3300 in GAC with 217 and 8.0.0 with
build 218.

Nothing else has been installed/uninstalled meanwhile, though.

Uwe

Hello Uwe,

have you uninstalled 217 prior to installing 218?

EnvDTE is missing here too. Now all other add-ins (GhostDoc, devMetrics,
...) fail to load. And of course I uninstalled 217 before installing 218.

Is there any work-around to get EnvDTE back in VS2003?

Regards,
Thomas

I'm afraid you have to wait for build 219. Fortunately we hope to release
it very soon (within a few hours).

Hello Dmitry,
This has happened to me. My vs2003 no longer works, nor does the resharper
165 installer. It seems vs2005, resharper 2.218, do work.
How do I get vs2003 back working?

Hello Al and others,

the problem is that EnvDTE seems to be uninstalled from the Global Assembly
Cache during (un)installation of the build 218.
Currently we don't know exactly how such a thing could happen, as EnvDTE
is marked as a permanent (non-uninstallable) component
in the installation package.
Anyway, to get EnvDTE back into GAC, please run the following command (with
path substitutions that reflect folders
on your machine):

"C:\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\SDK\v1.1\Bin\gacutil.exe" /i C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v1.1.4322\envdte.dll

This should help.
