Open file in design mode?

Is there a way to open a form/usercontrol/etc in design mode as opposed to code view when using ctrl-N?

Hello mike,

no, unfortunately, currently there's no such way. It's not quite clear how
the UI should look - I can only think of a separate feature
like Ctrl-N that offers 'designable' files and opens them in a designer.
Augmenting the Ctrl-N UI with choices how to open a file would
be too cumbersome...

I don't think it would be cumbersome when you type Ctrl-N and type in "MyForm" there are two choices:
MyForm (code)
MyForm (design)

Of course this would only happen if the file is "designable" (whatever that means)

Hello mike,

it depends on how many items matching the pattern Ctrl-N is showing. If there
are many of them, having two items for each form could
be annoying.

Anyway, you can submit a request to our tracker so that we will think of
this feature.

You could offer the Design view in the "drill down" that is shown when you
select a partial class.

MyForm.cs
MyForm.designer.cs
MyForm Design View
