3.0.2 build 500 - Plugins?

Hi there,

I downloaded and installed build 500, but it seems that there is a problem with the plugins.

First of all, the "Plugins..." menu item seems to be gone. Weird :) Then, some plugins (see http://www.intellij.net/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=268269) cause a "Method not found"-Exception (I posted an issue: http://www.jetbrains.net/jira/browse/RSRP-45382). In 3.0.1, plug ins worked nicely.

Are there any important (intentional or unintentional) changes concerning plug-ins in build 500?

Regards,
Andre

Hello Andre,

concerning the first problem - there should be 'Plugins' menu item in build
500. How did you install it - I mean, have you upgraded from a previous build
of ReSharper?
In any case, it would be nice if you try to uninstall ReSharper and re-install
it from scratch. This should fix the problem with menu.

The main issue with plugins is that they are now guaranteed to work only
with the exactly the same build of ReSharper againt which there were compiled.
So, the plugins
you're referring to were likely updated for a earlier ReSharper build and
hence can't work with build 500. We will work on compatibility issues for
plugins developers in 3.0.2
(e.g. by providing publishing policy manifests), but for now the plugins
compiled against different build of ReSharper will most likely fail to load.

I just uninstalled 3.0.1, deleted the user profile (in %APPDATA%) and installed #500. Then I started up the IDE and selected VS keyboard scheme.

See the image for the complete R# menu.

- No plugins item
- Show Tips and Help appear twice

By the way, the same problem appeared when I upgraded directly from 3.0.1.

Regards,
Andre

P.S.: keep up the great work you do!

Hello Andre,

could you please try to do the following:

1) Reset All Settings (Tools|Import and Export Settings)
2) Run 'devenv /setup' from the command line and wait for it to complete.

Please check how the menu will look like after the steps above.

Looks good again.

If I remember correctly, after the first time I upgraded to #500 directly (without previous uninstall), the menu was ok at first, but as soon as the errors concerning the (incompatible) plugins came up, it was messed up.

Andre
