Unbearable performance while editing Javascript or HTML

I'm trying to figure out why editing in many of my javascript files or even javascript inside of html has become unbearable lately.  VS freezes up, and a lot of the time I cannot edit the file I was currently editing unless I close it or go to another file and then switch back.  I've uploaded a dotTrace capture and uploaded it while it was experiencing the issue.  The file name is VS2010_JS_HTML_Snap.zip

If there is anything else I need to provide to help debug this issue, please let me know.

I had the same problems in version 2152. I did not have time to make a
snapshot.
But it made me downgrade back to R# 5.

I hope the performance issues get solved soon. I love R# and it had always
made my computer slower but now I cannot even type in javascript files.

Good luck.

Hello Jason,

Thank you for providing a snapshot! I've logged a performance problem here:
http://youtrack.jetbrains.net/issue/RSRP-269135.

Hi. Thanks for the snapshot.
Unfortunately the snapshot timeframe is too long and includes R# initialization. Could you please make a shorter snapshot only including the time when editing is slow or VS freezes.
Btw, from your snapshot I can see performance issues in typing but can not determine the reason of them (as it is on some another thread). Thanks in advance for your help!

I started the snapshot as soon as I experienced the issue, so it shouldn't be that long, but I guess I did something wrong.

As for the performance issues in typing, is it possible that some other add-in could be causing this, maybe R# and the other add-in competing for control of the typing/refactoring?

I believe that I turned off all other add-ins except for R#, so I don't think that's the case, but it may be.

I'm trying to create another snapshot, but it looks like my dotTrace has expired (I don't own a license).  Any way around this to get another snapshot?

I've recorded three more snapshots and zipped them up and have uploaded them.  The name of the file is VS2010_JS_Hang_jdrozd.zip

Please take a look at these snapshots, as thhere is no way that I can continue to code any javascript with this holding me back.

Hi. Unfortunately the archive seems to be broken. Could you please upload it again?

I've tried uploading it a number of times, and it seems to try to reupload it every time it finishes.  I'm getting an error in my FTP client
'550 VS2010_JS_Hang_jdrozd_2.zip: Operation not permitted'

Is there any other way to get this to you?

Hi,

Could you please split your archive in two parts and try to upload it
again. Thanks

I'm uploading three files:

VS2010_JS_Hang.zip - ~56MB
VS2010_JSHang2.zip - ~88MB
VS2010_JSHang3.zip - ~94MB

As of now, VS2010_JS_Hang.zip should be uploaded, with the other two on the way.

I've fixed several problems that I could find in the snapshots. Please let us know if the fixes improved performance. Thanks!

Are the fixes in the latest nightly build, Build 2161?

Unfortunately no. I've just committed the fixes. Will be available in the next nightly build.

Well, build 6.0.2162.902 worked great, but the later builds must have broken any thing you may have changed to fix this issue.

Actually, the problems occur while saving files (aspx, js, css)  I'll capture a snapshot and upload

Here are the three file names that have been uploaded

vs2010_eatingcpu_jdrozd.zip

vs2010_eatingcpu_jdrozd2.zip
vs2010_eatingcpu_jdrozd3.zip

The problem occurs after editing files and then saving.  This occurs in a large solution, but not in a small solution.
