Basic code complete of a method not including parens?

It appears with the Basic code complete, if I select a parameterless
method, the empty parens are not added for me and I have to type them
in. But with Smart code complete, I get the parens. Is this a bug or a
feature?

I switched the keyboard shortcuts to give me Smart on Ctrl+Space - but
if I just start typing, the Basic comes up (I assume), I don't really
think about it, select a parameterless method and ... argh :)

I was browsing the R# options, and my "Use IntelliSense features of:"
setting was set to Visual Studio, not R#. Changing to R# seems to have
wiped out my reason to complain.

I guess in my upgrade craziness of trying to revive my custom shortcuts,
I did too much re-installing and repairing to keep that setting intact.

Sorry for the hassle.
