Resharper is dead. Help!

Sometime yesterday, Resharper seems to have committed suicide. All first level menus below "Unit Testing" are greyed out, as are nearly all second level menus. In general, R# shows no signs of life.

To try to fix this, I have:
Uninstalled and Reinstalled my current build of r# (commercial release).
Uinstalled the commercial release, and installed the latest nightly build (914),
Started Studio from the command line with the /ResetSettings switch.
The "License Information" menu is greyed out, otherwise I would have checked/reentered my license key.

The only event on the computer that even remotely seems like it could have caused this was the IT depart pushing out an install via SMS. I looked to see what they installed, and it only looked like standard windows updates.

I am on Windows XP (32 bit)
Using Visual Studio 2008 Professional.

Sure could use some help on this. I have come to utterly depend on this tool.

Does Tools->AddIns dialog show anything?

Tools / Add-In Manager has no entry for Resharper. The only entry is for TestDriven.net

Is there the .Addin file under the R# installation folder? Is that folder
listed in the Tools->Options->Add-in... list?

It could possibly be Visual Studio's losing the managed add-ins. I'm not
sure whether COM addins, like TestDriven, could still be visible in this
case.

I now have this exact same problem.

I've gone one step further than the above poster.

I even uninstalled and reinstalled Visual Studio.

No luck, the issue is the same.

I do have the ReSharper Bin path in my Tools -> Options -> Add-in section

But, it does not show up in Tools -> Add-in Manager

I have ReSharper working on another machine and the only difference I can see in the .AddIn file you reference is that on the non-functioning machine, LoadBehavior is 3, on the working machine, LoadBehavior is 1.

Any help you can give me would be GREATLY appreciated.

This machine has had Resharper working since version 2.5. I have installed 2.5, 3, 3.1 and they all worked. Installing 4.1 broke it.

Desperate here, any help would be greatly appreciated, or if you need any more info, let me know.

Re-registering MSXML6 with COM was reported to be of some help.

Serge,

You're a life saver, thank you SO much for the advice, it worked!

I'll give a little advice in case anyone else finds this thread.

I couldn't just un-register and re-register the dll, I kept getting errors.

So instead, I downloaded MSXML 6.01 SP1 from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d21c292c-368b-4ce1-9dab-3e9827b70604&displaylang=en

I went to Add/Remove, removed the currently installed one, installed the one from the link above and Resharper is back in business :)

Thanks again!
