When a EAP for standalone ide will start?

I'm dispointed with the M$ VS2003. It's too primary. I miss the features in IDEA....

It's hard to say now anything about EAP for standalone version now. We here plan to switch to our own IDE as the main tool for our own development in 3-4 months. Expect EAP not earlier than that.

Perhaps it will be a nice christmas present.

Hypothetically, if there were a stand-alone C# IDE from JetBrains like IDEA, would it be cross-platform? Meaning, would there be a possibility of it being hosted on Mono and being able to target Mono?

Just a thought.

ReSharper IDE will not be able to be hosted on Mono in the first release.
This is because currently there is no possibility to create sophisticated
GUI using WinForms only, without direct referring to Win32 GDI

What do you think about Gtk#?

Hi Anton,

Thank you for the link.
I will look on it shortly.

As for Gtk and R#, I think the following:

1) I had a small experience using Gtk with C++ and Linux. The overall
impression was that this UI library is not suitable for UI writing "as is".
It requires a lot of wrappers to be used with minimum comfort at least.
2) Anyway, R# IDE will target .NET 2.0. MS promises a lot of changes in
WinFroms 2.0.
3) In a far future there will be Avalon..... :)

So I personally think that it is not a good idea to use Gtk in large project
now. Migrating from WinForms 1.1 to WinForms 2.0 and to Avalon further will
be easer then migrating from Gtk
