R# Windows Not Top Level?

BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----

Hello, I'm having a problem with R# windows not being toplevel. I have a
multimonitor setup, and become accustomed to be able to move windows to
the secondary monitor, so I can see what's below them. If i recall
correctly that worked in previous builds of R#...

Is this a known bug? Or an 'improvement'? =)

Thanks,
Pablo

Do You mean popup windows (lighbulb, lists etc..)?
It's definitely not an improvement, but it's also is a not a known bug. I'll
check the problem, but not in the nearest build.
Could You, possibly identify the build number, after which the problem,
arose.

No, no, I'm not talking about lightbulb, etc. I'm talking about Rename
Window, Extract Method window, etc.

Don't know when it started, sorry. When I reported this, I think I was
using build 209, but since then, I've given up on it (too many
exceptions thrown), and went back using build 208. The problem it's
present in that build.

It's even more strange than I thought, I've started to rename a method,
the error tooltip appeared (with the red icon idicating that the name
must difer from the original name), I've pressed my shortcut to move the
window to the other monitor, and the window dissapeared, but the icon
appeared in the other monitor (even the tooltip works! =).

You can reproduce the bug if you resize the VS window, try to rename a
method, and move the rename window to the right frame of the VS
window...you'll see it gets obscured by VS and the red tooltip its
visible still.

This bug it's related to the one where people doesn't get to see the
refactoring windows when they run VS in their secondary monitor...the R#
windows are centered in their primary monitor, but as they are not
within the VS frame, they are not displayed.

I guess sometime in the development, all this windows got to be windows
with an style that makes they appear only if they are within the VS window.

Hope you see this as a bug, cause it's very useful when you refactor to
see the code and move the window away. This is doubly important when you
have some conflicts that need to be reviewed before the refactoring
takes place...if you can't move the window and still see it, you can
easily get lost.

Thanks,
Pablo

This sounds like a very very very annoying bug that I've been
experiencing since I first tried out the 2.0 EAP, at build 206. Other
people have reported it as far back as build 203.

Since my normal work environment uses two monitors, with VS.Net in the
second monitor, I find myself often working around this bug. When I'm
renaming methods, sometimes I'll just type the new name into a window
that I can't see. Other times I have to move VS.Net back to the primary
monitor in order to use the dialogs.
