Help! - #22726 ("Opening solution without closing the previous one")

Hi there,

looks like some users constantly experience this problem (22726 - "Opening
solution without closing the previous one"), but we cannot repeat it at labs
in spite of all our efforts.
So I'd like to ask all users who are observing it in the latest build 242
to post ReSharper log here. To get the log, please use ReSharper|Show Log.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Ronnie,

please also check if closing all documents before exit makes any difference.

You can also try to attach a debugger to the running devenv.exe, set break
on any exception
and then close VS. In theory it should break several times, please post the
exceptions here.

Hello Dmitry,

No exceptions from R#
There is a difference between solutions - a 5 c# lib + c# winform +
setup
project doesn't, a c++ solution doesn't but my main 20+ c# lib + web
app
project does!
Seems tro happen 100% of the time
projects are in clearcase (I'm disconencted) - but so is the c#
winform solution
Sequence:
Load VS2003
Load solution
Build (not sure this is necesassary)
Exit VS
VS dissapears and then shows the crash recorvery - would you like to
send info to MS box - tried debugging from there but that didn't work
- not sure why

Will try colsing solution first and then quitting next!

Hello Dmitry,

Closing all documents stops the error.

Tried catching the crash with debugger attached but it didn't happen that
time! Next time maybe

Hello Dmitry,

I'm still getting the problem with the Release (249 VS2003)

My C++ Project also caused the crash (and after closing the solution too!)

Sorry - still haven't managed to debug devenv - can't do it once the crash
has happened so I need to set some time aside just to test this issue....

Hello Dmitry,

Not sure if any of these are useful, but see attached what I have managed to get with the debugger attached.
To be honest, I'm not convinced any of these are the problem - there aren't any "unhandled" and I had to set 'stop-on-throw' so I might not be catching it :(

See attached,
Ronnie

Hello Ronnie,

if you set 'stop-on-throw' you will certainly catch any exception - at least
to my understanding
how it works, this means that the debugger breaks when an exception occurs.
It seems, however,
that VS exited normally in that session. Anyway, there is an interesting
InvalidCOMObjectException
in your log, and this is where we should look into - we already fixed some
crashes on exit related
to this exception. Thanks for the information.

Hello Dmitry,

Agreed - I spent some time yesterday after that post just trying to reproduce
the problem before I attached the debugger and didn't have much success -
there must be more that I need to do...

Glad there was at least something useful there - I will try again
