Visual Studio 2008 XAML editor does not close tags - Workaround by R#?

Hello,

Visual Studio 2008 has a nasty "bug" (or feature... don't know): The XAML
editor does not close opened tags like the XML editor. I don't know if this
will be fixed in the RTM build....

Does the R# team has any plans to work around this bug of Visual Studio?

Kind regards,
Henning Krause

Henning,

there are live templates in R# that work in any XML file called 't' and
'tc', that create tag with header and footer and leaf element
correspondingly. Once a template is applied, you are welcome to use type
completion (CtrlAltSpace in default keymapping) to enter the desired type
in the hotspot and basic completion (Ctrl+Space) after dot is typed. The
suggestion list the pops up immediately when you start editing the hotspot
contains all the tag names found in the file being edited.

Hello,

well, the 't' and 'tc' templates only suggests tags previously used in the
file, not all possibilities which are allowed by the schema, or am I wrong?

Kind regards,
Henning

Henning,

absolutely, but most tag you are to enter consist of type name (and property
name), which are copletable using R# completion. I know, it is not that
convenient as it should be, but to me it speeds up typing much more than VS
intellisense.

In short — if VS fails to fix it by the release, then it will be our duty :)

Well,

where would we be if you guys haven't had done this the last years :)

When forced to use Visual Studio 2003 without R# I'm always thinking a could
just switch to notepad - not much lost by that move :)

Keep up the good work!

Kind regards,
Henning Krause
