OutOfMemory exceptions in 2010

When working with a medium size project that uses C# 3.5, WPF with a lot of resource dictionaries (all merged in), with many datatemplates (we have almost no usercontrols), I get OutOfMemory exceptions at least twice a day.

I'm using the nightly from July 21st, 1729.

Has there been any progress in identifying more OOM's?  I keep doing a save all every 20 seconds out of fear of VS crashing....needless to say, it doesn't happen if I don't have R# enabled, but then I feel crippled.

Thanks

Oren

Hello Oren,

Could you please attach full stack traces of those OOM exceptions? Are there
any particular actions that lead to an OOM exception? How big is the managed
memory usage reported by ReSharper when an OOM exception occurs?

If you can email me a secure website (not FTP), I can transfer you a memory dump or two as I get them.  There aren't any particular actions I'm doing; the R# memory size is about 220 megs. The machine is XP x64 with 4GB memory.

Hi, my  working set of devenv is in excess of 1GB, is this not normal?

I don't get OOM exceptions but it could be faster..!
My machine - i7920 / 6GB Ram
Solution has around 105 projects.

Cheers,
Graeme.

I average 1.3GB per devenv.exe process with Resharper running. I think 1GB of usage for Resharper is normal. I also think it's extremely unfortunate. I'd love to get my hands on the Resharper codebase for a few days and do some optimization! Resharper's memory issues are mostly related to XML. If you have nothing but CS files your memory usage will be significantly smaller than someone with a lot of XML, XSD, XSL, XAML, XOML, etc. Add a 100MB XML file to your project for kicks and giggles.
